Bulgaria's largest higher education institution, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", has failed to fill all of the spots it had announced for some of its "prestigious" majors.
Most likely resulting from the excessive number of students that the Sofia University wanted to admit for the 2012-2013 academic year, the school has been unable to find enough students.
A total of 450 spots out of approximately 4 000 in the class of 2016 have not been filled in majors such as Economic Management, Economics, Physics, and foreign languages such as German, French, Spanish, Turkish, Czech, Polish, Ukrainian, Serbo-Croatian, Russia, and Balkan Studies.
More traditional majors such as history, geography, chemistry, and biology have also failed to find enough students.
The Sofia University will make a final push to fill up these free spots by reevaluating candidates.
