Manchester United's former Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, who was just sold to Fulham at the end of last week, told reporters in Sofia he was disappointed by Sir Alex Ferguson "as a person".
"I might have some sort of disappointment with Ferguson. As a manager, his successes speak for themselves. I had the chance to play for him. He lost my respect somewhat because of the way he treated me," Berbatov declared in Bulgaria on Monday regarding his relationship with the manager of Manchester United.
Berbatov further elaborated that he left United after he was not allowed to play for an entire year.
"I felt bad about it, I don't think I deserved this treatment as I was the top scorer. However, the manager told me that the game is changing and that I'm becoming a little useless. I have my dignity, I tried to fight but it didn't work out," the star striker revealed.
"I won the English Premiership title twice, I became the top scorer. I said "Farewell!" to all those who deserved it, and life is going on," Berba stated, as cited by BGNES.
He added he probably should have left United last summer but that Sir Alex Ferguson told him he needed him so he decided to stay; he said that even in the past season he did play in 12 matches and scored 9 goals.
