A month after Bulgaria announced amendments to an ordinance authorizing currency exchange outside banks and currency exchange offices, the country presented its first currency exchange machine.

"This model is the so-called lobby type, which is designed to be installed in enclosed, protected space. The machine has internal sensors that are tied to the security companies, inside there are cameras and sensors for shock, fire," Julian Dimitrov, CEO of the company producer, told bTV.

The special ATMs are to be launched on the market and put into operation in the short term. They will only exchange foreign currency into BGN.

The owners of currency exchange ATMs will have to present documents at the NRA guaranteeing that fraud is impossible.

The currency exchange equipment will issue receipts for the deals.
