People from all over the world are anticipating Sunday evening a splendid closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics even though organizers are keeping details secret.

The opening one was watched by billions of delighted viewers across the globe.

After 16 days of competition at the Olympic Park, plus venues throughout London and other cities, the 2012 Olympic Games has entered its final day, with the closing ceremony to take place before London hands over to 2016 host city Rio de Janeiro.

The ceremony will begin at 21:00 BST.

Once the set has been moved into place on Sunday, between 200 and 1 000 seats for the ceremony will be released for sale online.

Involving 3 500 performers in the Olympic Stadium, artistic director Kim Gavin said the ceremony would be "the best after-show party of all time". It will focus on 50 years of British music as a "mashed-up symphony" and is expected to gather some of the biggest stars of the British musical scene such as Paul McCartney, Elton John, George Michael, the Spice Girls, and some favorites of the younger generation – Muse, who authored Survival, the official anthem of the Games, Adel, and the boys band One Direction.

Legendary Rolling Stones, who have not taken the stage together since 2007 and just celebrated half century since the founding of the group, are also expected to have confirmed their participation.

The Bulgarian National Television, BNT, will air the closing ceremony live, starting at 11 pm local time.

Fifteen gold medals will be available on Sunday in events including boxing, the men's marathon and basketball.
