Over 250 scouts from Bulgaria, Russia and France will gather Wednesday evening at the Bohotska Gora forest near the northwestern town of Pleven for an international event.

A large campfire is to be lit a little after 8 p.m. on Wednesday and some 30 minutes later the participants will stage a special ceremony to open the International Scout Camp Pleven 2012.

Teams of young scouts from Bulgaria, Russia and France arrived over a month earlier to prepare the terrain.

The plot was officially donated to the Organization of Bulgarian Scouts and is the second national scout base in Bulgaria.

So far, a 60-strong group of scouts from Russia, led by Vladimir Gromov, head of the All-Russia National Scout Organization, and a 24-strong group of French scouts have arrived at the site.

The official opening of the event is expected to bring together 250 participants.

The International Scout Camp Pleven 2012 is the culmination of the one-year celebrations of the 100th anniversary of scouting.
