French Ambassador to Bulgaria Dominique Chassard was forbidden to leave France after he was called back to Paris recently and investigation was launched on illegal issuing visas, private bTV reported. French Foreign Ministry is investigating information that French diplomats illegaly issued and traded in visas. The case seems to be the biggest diplomatic visa scandal ever in Bulgaria and might put certain shadow on Bulgarian-French relations. The Embassy refused to comment whether the French Ambassador to Bulgaria Dominique Chassard was called to Paris after a check of the French Foreign Ministry. Almost all members of the French consulate in Sofia are reported to be involved in the illegal trade of visas. `I cannot comment and I do not know if Ambassador Chassard is in Paris now`, Cecile Longe, First Secretary in the French Embassy in Sofia announced.
