Thousands of dollars were drained from the budget of the parliament during the last 4 years because of considerably raised prices of the plane tickets, said yesterday parliamentary chairman Prof. Ognyan Gerdzhikov. He came across the jobbery at end-week when he was submitted an order of a business trip of the standing delegation to a conference of the Interparliamentary Union to Burkina Faso. The MPs were envisaged $1715 each for plane ticket. `By mere chance and at once, assisted by my son, I found an agency offering tickets by $300 cheaper,` Prof. Gerdzhikov elaborated. He immediately ordered the contract with the `Macland` - the agent company for the purchase of plane tickets - to be cancelled. The damages are yet to be calculated. According to parliamentary employees, `Macland` was recommended by the chief of the cabinet of the former parliamentary chairman Verdzinia Velcheva. She was not to be found for a commentary yesterday. I will make serious savings in the budget of the Parliament, Gerdzhikov added. He specified that state money has been drained via business trips abroad.
