JAPANESE MPS DISCUSS ENVIRONMENTAL SITUATION IN BG

A visiting delegation of Japanese MPs met Monday with Environment Minister Dolores Arsenova and the committee on environment and waters. Representatives of the committee informed the Japanese guests Koichi Yamamoto, Takuji Yangimoto, and Toshiro Kojima on the harmonization of domestic and EU environment law and on the upcoming debate on the new environmental protection law. The meeting was attended by Japanese Ambassador here Akira Matsui. The two sides agreed to maintain more intensive contacts in the future. They will consider a proposal on forming working groups on environmental issues at the two parliaments to ensure closer bilateral contacts. Yamamoto invited the committee members to visit Japan to get a firsthand knowledge of his country`s achievements in environmental protection.
