Bulgaria's top male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov has terminated his participation in this year's Wimbledon over health problems.
Grigor Dimitrov quit his second-round match with Cyrpus's Marcos Baghdatis due to illness on Thursday.
Baghdatis had won the first set 7-5 and was 4-1 up in the second when the Bulgarian informed the umpire he could not continue.
“Dimitrov is suffering from the flu - he wasn’t breathing well and has very little energy,” Nova Sports television said during their coverage of the match out on Court No.12.
“It probably doesn’t help that it’s a relatively hot and sticky day and he may even have been feeling a bit dizzy at times
“He’s just really unlucky. You train so hard to be ready for such a great tournament like Wimbledon and then can’t do yourself justice as you’re sick,” Nova added.
The 27-year-old Cypriot who is currently ranked 42nd in the ATP South African Airways Rankings, will face Andy Murray on Saturday.
