Beach time has settled in full force in Bulgaria to the joy of thousands of holiday makers along the Black Sea coast.

Thursday will strike a sweltering 32-37°C heat but later in the evening a wave of cooler air will bring some respite, together with scattered rains.

Code yellow has been declared for 19 Bulgarian regions for Thursday over the forecast of dangerous heat, the Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS, informed.

The regions under code yellow are: Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Kardzhali, Yambol, Sliven, Veliko Tarnovo, Lovech, Ruse, Pleven, Burgas, Varna, Shumen, Silistra, Razgrad and Targovishte.

Temperatures are to reach anywhere between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius, (32 in Sofia), with uncomfortable heat and muggy air.

The weather on the Black Sea Coast will be sunny with temperatures between 26 and 33 degrees and 18-24 for the sea waters.

Code yellow means potentially dangerous weather, where the forecast is not for unusual meteorological events, but requires people to exercise caution.

Forecasts say high temperatures are here to stay during the next three months, but warn that scattered shower spells may spoil beachgoers' plans in the second half of July.
