Bulgaria`s external debt rose in July mainly due to the remittance of the last, 12th, tranche under the three-year agreement with the International Monetary Fund, central bank data show. As of end-June Bulgaria`s external debt amounted to USD 10.052 billion, up USD 76.5 million on end-May. The last IMF tranche amounted to USD 65.4 million. Debts to the fund stood at a net USD 45.7 million in June. The external debt-to-GDP ration was 74.5%, up from 73.9% at end-May. For the first half of the year Bulgaria`s external debt decreased USD 312.7 million, from USD 10.364 billion at the end of last year. Net foreign financing for the first half was negative. Fresh credits and deposits amounted to USD 530.9 million, while payments made stood at USD 763.7 million. Of the total amount, USD 478.5 million was paid on principal and USD 285.2 million on interest.The currency structure of the debt remained unchanged from the end
of last year. As of end-June, 65.8% of the external debt was denominated in US dollars, 18.0% in euro, 12.5% in Special Drawing Rights /the IMF currency/. Public debt stood at USD 8.841 million at end-June. The external debt of the private sector amounted to USD
1.211 billion.
