A Bulgarian, Petar Zografov, has triumphed with the title at The PokerStars Eureka Poker Tour Bulgaria title.
Zografov who outlasted a field of 246 and overcame his final opponent Algirdas Saveikis despite Saveikis initially holding a 6-1 heads-up chip lead, cardplayer.com reported.
Zografov's win is the first time a Bulgarian grabs the title at the The PokerStars Eureka Poker Tour Bulgaria; this happened at the second edition of the tournament in Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian took home EUR 48 745 for first place from the Golden Sands Resort in Varna, which was less than what second-place finisher Saveikis got, due to a heads-up deal made when the Lithuanian was chip leader. He took home EUR 51 645 after almost three arduous hours of intense action where the chip lead was swinging back and forth.
In the final hand, Zografov raised to 100 000 and Saveikis called to see a flop. Saveikis checked, Zografov bet 75 000, Saveikis popped it to 180 000, Zografov reloaded and made it 325 000 and instantly Saveikis made his all-in move for just under 1.2 million.
Zografov called and turned over K diamond 2 heart for top pair, while Saveikis revealed 6 spade 3 spade for a pair and a flush draw. It was game over when the turn and river brought two ladies and no spades, the Q club, and the Q heart.
"To win the trophy in my home country is the perfect situation, I feel great," Zografov said.
