Bulgaria will support and implement the recommendation for at least one hour of physical education at school a day. This transpired after the meeting of EU member states Ministers of Sports in Warsaw. The ministers decided the obligatory requirement for at least an hour of physical education at school a day to be introduced in the European Council resolution. The document is still just a recommendation, but is likely to be tabled for discussion at the next meeting of the Council in November. Bulgaria will mull the implementation of international programs to assist the development of the children in Bulgaria, former Director of Bulgaria's State Agency for Youth and Sports said before leaving for Warsaw. Classes in physical culture in Bulgaria are obligatory and range from two to three a week. The ministers at Warsaw meeting noted the decline in physical culture in Europe. Delegations from some 48 countries agreed to start negotiations on a strategy for more classes for physical education and more stimuli for sports activities. The lack of physical activity among young people in Western Europe comes from the huge number of computer-related activities, the Council's report points out. Insufficient funds are the main cause for the sedentary lifestyle of young people in Eastern Europe, the report says.
