Bulgarian-born Vania Georgieva finished as first runner-up in the People's Choice Award, a special award handed out during the Presentation Show of the 2012 Miss Universe Canada competition.
The Presentation Show was held in Toronto, with the participation of the 62 beauties who were evaluated in the categories of swimsuits and evening gowns.
Georgieva is born in the Bulgarian town of Dupnitsa. She immigrated to Toronto at the age of six with her parents and sister. She studies Economics and Political Science at the University of Ottawa.
Georgieva has stated that she wants to balance a career in international politics and humanitarian work around the world.
