Libya's Transitional National Council has reportedly fired the country's cabinet over "incompetence."
A total of 65 out of 72 Transitional National Council members approved a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Abdurrahim al-Keib in a meeting Wednesday, international media reported.
The move was said to throw into question the country's ability to hold an election in June. A 200-member assembly has to be elected that is to form a government and prepare for writing the country's new constitution.
However, the Transitional National Council has allegedly denied it had fired the country's premier and five other ministers.
The reports, which cited incompetence as the reason behind the officials' firing, are "completely devoid of truth," the council’s spokesman Mohamed al- Harizi told the official Libya News Agency late on Thursday, as cited by Bloomberg.
