Iran has reportedly blocked the website for the 2012 London Olympics.

Users in Iran complained on Twitter that they could not visit the portal but were instead redirected to, a website offering news from official local news agencies, the BBC News announced.

The website confirms that it is highly unlikely for the majority of Iranian users to access the official web page of the 2012 Olympics.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry refused to comment on the matter.

In March 2011 Iran threatened to boycott the London Olympics over claims that the logo spells the word 'zion', arguing that it represents a veiled pro-Israeli conspiracy.

However, a follow-up letter made clear that Iranian athletes would "participate and play gloriously".

International news agencies remind of Iran's history of blocking access to websites it considers a threat to public order, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
