Bulgaria's Health Ministry is proposing to the cabinet to lift the cap of BGN 180 000 for the medical treatment of children.
The country's brand new Health Minister, Desislava Atanasova, has already submitted the project decree with changes in the way the "Fund for Medical Treatment of Children" functions
Atanasova vowed on several previous occasions to bring these changes after parents and NGOs alarmed that the limit hurdles the treatment of sick children with the use of resources from the Fund.
In addition to eliminating the cap, the project proposes to the Council of Ministers to secure additional financing for the Fund in order to provide all necessary amounts needed for the medical care of Bulgarian children.
