Plovdiv Ranked Third Among Europe's Best Christmas Destinations for 2024
Plovdiv has been ranked third among the top Christmas destinations in Europe for 2024 by Forbes
The Bulgarian city of Plovdiv will run to host the World Canoe Kayak Championship in 2016 and the World Rowing Championship in 2017.
The announcement was made as Matt Smith, head of the International Rowing Federation, visited the country to inspect Plovdiv's preparation to host the upcoming 2012 World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships for non-Olympic events in August.
"We have promised our canoe-kayak colleagues to help them prepare thei candidacy, as we have more experience in designing the documents," former Olympic champion and head of the Bulgarian Rowing Federation Svetla Otsetova said on Sunday, as cited by dnevnik.bg.
It was recently revealed that the Plovdiv municipality plans to build a second rowing canal with funding from JESSICA, a joint EU initiative for financing sustainable urban development.
The construction of Plovdiv's second rowing canal is expected to be officially launched in August.
