Temperatures in Bulgaria are expected to rise to 12-15C on Friday, bringing the long-awaited warm spell after weeks of cold and snowy weather.

The mercury will zoom up on Saturday, but will drop slightly on Sunday evening to bring scattered showers on Monday.

Weather forecasts are promising that the severe cold snap and floods that hit hard Bulgaria are already coming to an end and the mercury will permanently stay above the freezing point, at least during the day.

On Friday most parts of the country will bask in glorious winter sun with temperatures ranging between – 4 C and 12 C, in southwestern Bulgaria – up to 15 C.

On Saturday and Sunday highs will range between 6 C and 11 C.

Partly cloudy weather will prevail along the Black Sea coast.
