James Pardew, special advisor for the Balkans to US President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell, met with President Stoyanov, PM Saxe-Coburg, Foreign Minister Passy and Defence Minister Nikolai Svinarov on Friday. After the meetings he announced that he asked for their advice and opinion on the best way to support the process of political settlement of the conflict in the region but refused to elaborate further on. `The political agreement between the Macedonian and the Albanian, due to be signed in Skopje on Monday, reflects a compromise for the political forces in Macedonia but it is the best way to achieve lasting peace in the country and to guarantee its territorial integrity`, Pardew told journalists after conferring with President Stoyanov.
