Bulgaria's President Chairs UN Security Council Sept. 11

Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov will chair the September 11th session of the UN Secrity Council. Bulgaria took over the UN Security Council presidency on September 1. The Council will open with a special session to commemorate the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Bulgaria's NATO bid will top the agenda of Bulgaria's President Parvanov in the United States next week. Bulgaria hopes to get invitation for membership in the Alliance at the Prague summit next year. President Georgi Parvanov will visit Washington for meetings with Vice President Richard B. Cheney, Secretary of State Colin L. Powell and other officials. Parvanov will be in Washington Sept. 9-10 before traveling to New York the next day to chair the UN Security Council.
