PM Zhelyazkov: Bulgaria’s Eurozone Convergence Report is Still on the Horizon
The request for a convergence report to join the eurozone will be made after February 18, once the draft State Budget is submitted
The Director of the municipal company "Capital Transport," Asen Dobranov, has resigned citing personal reasons.
Dobranov submitted his resignation Tuesday afternoon, but had announced intentions to do so as early as December 30. He stated that his decision had nothing to do with the audit in 2011, which established significant violations.
Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia, confirmed Wednesday the news about the resignation being over personal motives, but pointed out that the report of violations had been sent to the Prosecutor's Office, which is working on the case.
A report of the Public Financial Inspection Agency (PFIA) notes a number of violations established in the probe which was launched after receiving alerts of 12 illegal procedures in the period 2007 – 2009.
For example, for three consecutive years, the municipal company had made payments for repairs of buses and supply of spare parts to different firms without holding the mandatory public procurement tenders under the Act with the same name.
Dobranov has been working in the system of Sofia's public transportation since 1985 and was often called in the media the "Eternal Director."
