Wave of Israeli Terror from the Skies: Damascus Bombed, Syria Under Attack
Israel has carried out a series of airstrikes on key government sites in the Syrian capital, Damascus
Bulgaria has not received any information from Israel concerning possible Hezbollah terrorist attacks on the Balkan country's territory, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson has confirmed.
"We have no information about such terror attacks. Usually, we receive such information in due time," spokeswoman Vesela Cherneva declared on Friday, pointing out that the Foreign Ministries of Bulgaria and Israel are maintaining a constant contact.
In an interview for the Btv private channel, Cherneva added that the Foreign Ministry has done "absolutely everything" in order to find out whether such threat exists.
Upon asked to comment on the announcement made earlier by the Bulgarian Transport Ministry that security measures will be taken at the Sofia International Airport, Cherneva remarked that it was the Transport Ministry that should be questioned about that.
Also on Friday, Bulgaria's Minister of Economy Energy and Tourism Traicho Traikov revealed that Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has advised against discussing threats from anonymous sources, since the necessary security measures are already in place and such discussions can only create insecurity.
On Thursday, the Haaretz paper quoted an Israeli government official saying that the government has asked Bulgaria and other countries to up security measures to protect Israeli citizens on their territories.
The Walla! website has said that the planned attacks are in connection with the February 12 anniversary of the killing of Hezbollah leader Imad Mughnieh.
The Russian Israeli website IzRus has gone as far as to claim that the information about the attacks was disclosed to Israeli services by their Bulgarian counterparts.
Late on Thursday, Bulgaria's Interior Ministry also stated that the level of security in Bulgaria has not been raised due to claims that Hezbollah might be planning attacks on Israeli citizens in Bulgaria
