Calm and Sunny Thursday in Bulgaria, Fog to Linger in Valleys and Plains

Bulgaria is expecting inclement winter weather beginning Thursday night into Friday.
The weather forecast is issued by the Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS.
Snow is expected very early Friday morning, starting in western Bulgaria in higher elevations. Rain is in the forecast for other locations in western Bulgaria, but it will gradually turn into snow.
The snow will travel from west to east Friday and it will snow all over Bulgaria late Friday into Saturday and Sunday, until about noon. Significant snow accumulation and drifts are also expected.
The snow will be accompanied by lower temperatures – the mercury will show from minus 1 degree Celsius in higher elevations Friday morning to 3-4 degrees in eastern Bulgaria.
Roads all over the country will be treacherous and travel will be seriously impeded.
