Traffic on Bulgaria's main road arteries is heavy Monday evening as the New Year holidays are coming to an end, but no nerve-wracking jams have been reported.

Columns have formed on the Trakiya Highway from Burgas and Plovdiv, as well as on the Hemus Highway coming from the north, but police says the traffic organization is very good.

Many Bulgarians have decided to travel to relatives or places of birth during the three days off around New Year, and are now returning to their jobs.

Traffic on the E-79 road, the main international road from Greece to Bulgaria and Romania, is also heavy, report police authorities.

Many Greek and other European tourists have visited Bulgaria over the New Year holidays.
