Only 6% of all participants in a Bulgarian study believe that their quality of life had improved in 2011.

The poll has been conducted at the end of September by the National Center for Study of Public Opinion (NZIOM), on the order of the Quality of Life Association. It involved mainly people between the ages of 30 and 39, with college degrees and monthly income exceeding BGN 400 per member of their household.

Nearly half of the respondents say quality of live had worsened in the last year; 21% describe their quality of live as "remaining good" – this group consists of people with college degrees, younger people, residents of Sofia and the largest cities, and wealthy Bulgarians.

Sociology experts point out that most Bulgarians confuse quality of life with living standard, which is related mainly to income levels.

Data from the poll further shows that over 75% of the respondents have minimalistic perception of quality of life such as: having enough money to lead a normal life; having access to quality health care; being able to pay household bills; having enough clothes for all seasons; eating quality food; owning a car; owning basic appliances.

The Quality of Life Association was founded in August 2011, by representatives of the business and this was its first poll.
