Chilean Javier Villegas became IFMXF Night of the Jumps world champion at the finals in the new Arena Armeets in Bulgaria's capital Sofia.
The freestyle motorcycling final Saturday night was the largest event of this size to ever take place in Bulgaria.
The name of Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov, who was present at the event, was mentioned several times during the program, to the disapproval of 9,000 strong audience.
PM Borisov was instrumental in carrying out and completing the Arena Armeets project, the largest and most modern sports hall in Bulgaria.
However, a discontent audience massively booed each mentioning of Borisov or any other member of his cabinet during the event.
Even though according to organizers this "marred" the motorcycle final, the audience was ecstatic at the display of prowess by the riders.
In the Bulgaria Grand Prix, France's Remi Bizouard came out first with 417 points ahead of Chile's Villegas with 409.
However, Villegas has a better total score for the season, taking the gold with 210 season points, ahead of Bizouard, who has 195.
Motorcycle racers praised the organization of the race, in particular the Armeets Arena facility and its potential for events of such scale and nature.
