`The construction of a Bulgaria-based network for issuing e-certificates began`, Information Service Plc. announced. Last week the company signed contracts with GlobalSign and Utimaco Safeware, which will offer technology and know-how for issuing internationally recognized certificates. The two companies will provide consultations and technical supplies needed to build a network for the application of the e-signature. Certificates will be issued to both corporate and non-corporate entities, as well as to state administration structures. The number of certificates is to reach 65,000 by the end of the year. Information Service Plc. will issue GlobalSign certificates in partnership with the Bulgarian Industrial Association. The idea is that all VAT-registered companies get such a certificate as it will allow them to submit their tax returns via Internet, officials from Information Service explained. Bulgaria is one of the leading European countries in terms of e-signature legislation. The respective act was passed in May. Utimaco Safeware makes professional certified software for information security, while GlobalSign issues certificates for the European Commission, as well as for companies in Europe, Asia and America.
