The Balkan Days of Arts Festival will gather for the third time in a row orphans from Balkan countries in the tourist complex of Kavatsite in the Black Sea town of Sozopol. The five-day event, to start on September 4, will take place under the patronage of the Bulgarian President's wife Zorka Parvanova. The organizers -the Democratic Network Association - justifiably take pride in the consistency of their work, which has made the event already traditional. More than 120 children from orphanages in Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Macedonia and Yugoslavia have confirmed their participation. Expectations that Croatia will also joint the event are high. Along with the unforgettable holiday, the children will be involved in working initiatives of three types - art, literature and music.
A number of famous Bulgarian writers, musicians and artists have agreed to work with the children in a number of charity acts in the hope the meetings will leave the children spiritually enriched. Among the artists are Evtim Evtimov, Georgi Konstantinov, Ivan Granitski, Vezhdi Rashidov, Stavri Kalinov, Duo Chick, Silvia Katsarova. A highlight on the agenda of the festival is a roundtable entitled "Our future after the orphanages". There the children will exchange ideas and experience in coping with the problems of integration in society. Representatives of the state institutions, dealing with the issue, have been invited to join the discussion. Among the entertainments planned this year is a trip along the River Ropotamo, presentations of the cuisine of different Balkan countries, sport events, a walk in the town of Sozopol. The organizers are convinced that such a rich program will revive the hope in the children's hearts. And will give them the feeling of having spent five days in Heaven, as one child last year described his holiday in Bulgaria.
