THREE MAIN EU AID PROGRAMS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY

Three main programs are currently being implemented in Bulgaria as part of the pre-accession aid Bulgaria receives from the European Union, Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development Minister Paskalev told private national TV channel bTV. Among them are PHARE fund, which is separated in two parts - cross-border cooperation and economic and social cohesion. The Program for Economic and Social cohesion aims to raise living standards and meeting EU quality of products standards, Minister Paskalev explained. The second pre-accession program - ISPA - aims to improve the infrastructure and living condition of all Bulgarians, related to the road infrastructure, water sector and environment. SAPARD provides agricultural assistance to the EU aspirants. Minister Paskalev voiced support for the concept, which seeks build-up of implementing agency in accordance with EU structural funds. He also denied reports of tensions between the regional development and finance ministry over the selected concept.
