UP TO NINE MEMBERS MAY JOIN NATO, SECRETARY GENERAL SAY

The upcoming NATO summit in Prague will turn into a guarantee that the Alliance will enter 2003 with much greater potential for dealing with future challenges, NATO Secretary General George Robertson said in Brussels, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio. In the opinion of Robertson up to nine members can join the Alliance. He also forecast that the Prague summit will be the place where the Alliance's new members, new relations and new opportunities will be announced. Despite differences, the United States and Europe continue to work jointly for the international security, Robertson also said. He underlined that it is normal differences to exist, but will only enhance the significance of NATO.
