The "Four Paws" foundation has launched a campaign for a more responsible and humane treatment of stray and domesticated animals in Bulgaria's capital Sofia.

The organization's initiative is to start with a happening that is to take place in Sofia's "Borisova gradina" park between 3 pm and 5 pm on Sunday, Dnevnik.bg has announced.

Members of "Four Paws" will hand out brochures and organize various games for animal lovers from all across the Bulgarian capital.

Since the spring of 2011, "Four Paws" have been involved in a stray cat neutering project that has already resulted in the neutering of approximately 650 animals.

The foundation has called on all pet owners to neuter their pets and have advised all citizens who want to acquire a pet to consider carefully whether they are capable of treating them properly.
