BULGARIA TO DIRECT ATTENTION TO REGION AT UN SECURITY COUNCIL

Bulgaria takes over the UN Security Council presidency on September 1. During its one-month presidency, Bulgaria will do its best to direct the attention of the Council's members to the regional problems, Vladimir Sotirov, Director of the UN and Security Council Directorate of the Foreign Ministry said. He said that he was having consultations with the South Eastern Europe ambassadors in Bulgaria to outline aims and ideas that could be tabled during Bulgaria's one-month presidency. A UN Security Council open session on Kosovo will take place on September 5 and will be chaired by Foreign Minister Passy. Sotirov said that an open session on Bosna and Herzegovina is also being organized.
