Strong Police Presence Planned for Bulgaria's Election Day

A large number of employees of the Interior Ministry – fifteen thousand are assigned to secure Sunday a normal election process, the Ministry's press center informs.

The Ministry has prepared a plan for the monitoring and preserving of public order for the presidential and local elections with patrols including 909 border policemen, 1 381 firefighters and Civil Defense employees, 108 traffic policemen and 164 policemen from special task forces.

All have been prepped on the Election Code and the directives of the Central Electoral Commission, CEK, the Interior assures.

Patrol cars will be making rounds not only of voting polls, but of political parties' headquarters to prevent vandalism and violations of public order. All facilities for the manufacturing, storage and sale of weapons, ammunition, explosives and fireworks have been checked.

Policemen are required to assist local Electoral Commissions upon request from their chairs and to document the incidents.
