Code yellow has been declared in the southern and eastern regions of Bulgaria for Monday following forecasts for more downpours.
The forecasts have been issued by the Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS.
Code yellow means potentially dangerous weather, where the forecast is not for unusual meteorological events, but requires people to exercise caution.
A cold front is passing through the entire country from West to East, after the unusually high temperatures in the last weeks. In western Bulgaria the mercury is down by anywhere between 10 and 13 degrees Celsius, depending on the region.
Downpours hit the whole of Bulgaria on Sunday except for the northwestern Danube Region of Vidin and the rain turned into snow in elevations above 1 200 meters. The snow is already accumulating at some spots.
On Monday the maximum temperatures in Bulgaria will be between 8 and 13 degrees.
The forecast for the mountains is for more rain, thunder and strong winds.
