Bratislava, 6 August: The September expedition to the Gerlach peak, with its 2,655 metres the highest Slovak mountain, organized by President Rudolf Schuster, will be attended by 10 European presidents, Slovak media said today.
Perhaps as many as six to seven heads of state are to reach the very top of the mountain.
However, the team will not be joined by President Vaclav Havel as he will be shown the Czech-Slovak army exercise Blue Line in the Central Slovak town of Lest at the time.
Participation has been confirmed by the presidents of Poland, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Switzerland, Romania, Slovenia as well as the current former presidents of Hungary.
Schuster planned the climb last year. However, at that time he almost died when his colon suddenly ruptured and he had to be operated in emergency.
