Bulgaria's Road Agency with 5th Management Reshuffle in 2 Years

The Bulgarian Road Infrastructure Agency has appointed a new CEO dismissing the current director Sergey Mihalev only six months after he took over.
Mihalev's contract was terminated with his consent, the Bulgarian Regional Development Ministry, which is in charge of the road agency, announced Monday night.
Mihalev has been replaced with Lazar Lazarov, an acting member of the Governing Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency.
The Regional Development Ministry thanked Mihalev for his "management qualities" and "positive role" in the start of major infrastructure projects but justified the reshuffle with "the prioritizing of the activities that is due at the Road Infrastructure Agency."
"The Agency is entering a period in which its main focus will be the technical execution of the projects. From this point of view, we have appointed an expert with recognized professional qualities and long-term experience in road building," declared Lilyana Pavlova, Bulgaria's new Regional Development Minister, who was sworn into office last week, after her predecessor Rosen Plevneliev was nominated to run for President from the ruling center-right party GERB. Pavlova had served as Plevneliev's deputy in the past two years.
Lazarov is the fifth newly-appointed CEO of the Bulgarian Road Infrastructure Agency since the GERB party took over two years ago, after Yanko Yankov, Dimitar Ivanov, Bozhidar Yotov, and Sergey Mihalev.
The Agency has also appointed a new Governing Board member, Lazarina Stoichkova, who has served as a head of a directorate in the institution. She will be in charge of execution of projects funded from two major EU Operational Programs - "Regional Development" and "Transport."
