Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development Rosen Plevneliev is a hardworking expert loved by the people and makes a perfect presidential candidate, said PM Boyko Borisov.
Sunday Borisov's center-right GERB nominated Plevneliev as its candidate for October 23 presidential elections, together with cabinet colleague, Minister of Justice Margarita Popova.
"Two months ago, on a road to Pernik, I told Plevneliev that I need him as president," quipped Borisov in an interview Sunday afternoon.
Borisov's road encounters became notorious in the spring of 2010, when he said that he first met future Minister of Health Anna-Maria Borisova on an intercity road, and quickly decided to appoint her, after a short talk on the spot.
Borisova replaced resigned Health Minister Bozhidar Nanev and made an inglorious term of service of just several months before filing her own resignation.
"On that Pernik road Plevneliev told me that becoming president will disturb his family comfort. But later he realized he just had to accept the high responsibility of becoming Bulgaria's president," explained the PM Sunday.
Borisov also repeated his earlier statement that he confirmed to Plevneliev that he will be GERB's nomination just one hour before the press conference at which it was announced.
