Dimitar Borisov, the president of the Bulgarian CSKA football club, has been accused of making racist comments against Romanian Steaua Bucharest's Roma players

Borisov allegedly called Steaua's players with Roma background "garbage" and "grimy" after the clash between the two teams within the Europa League which the Romanian team won 2-0.

The CSKA boss, who is also the owner of a garbage company, has been reported saying that the players in question would fit perfectly among his employees. Garbage collectors in Bulgaria are almost exclusively Roma.

The Romanian Council for Combating Discrimination has sent a letter to UEFA president Michel Platini describing the accident and calling for adequate punishment.

In his defense, Borisov has told the Bulgarian gong.bg that never used the word Roma and that an "interpreter's mistake" is to blame for the scandal. He even invited Steaua's president Gigi Becali over for a dinner, according to the Bulgarian Trud daily.
