The European Union has allowed the import of live sheep, goats and cattle from Bulgaria, except for animals from the regions of Yambol, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Burgas, which are close to the border with Greece and Turkey, the ministry of agriculture said.

A BGN 752,000 subsidy under the SAPARD programme will be granted to Sevlievo-based Ovoshtni Gradini OOD fruit producer. This is the first subsidy provided for the Gabrovo region from the pre-accession funds of the European Union.

About BGN 2.52 million will be invested in planned repairs of the basic production and energy facilities of Balkanpharma-Razgrad AD. Most of the money will be used for bringing production up to the Good Manufacturing Practice /GMP/ standard. Repairs and upgrade is
planned in Balkanpharma`s works in Dupnitsa as well. A total of BGN 489,000 will be invested.

Tax and non-tax revenues collected by the tax administration in the Pirin region amount to BGN 30.1 million for the first six months of the year. VAT accounts for 56% of the revenue.

The youth red cross of Switzerland starts a one-week programme for supporting and cleaning the children`s home in the Hisarlaka park. A total of CHF 30,000 and BGN 7,000 has been collected by ten volunteers in Geneva aged between 16 and 18.

Finance minister Milen Velchev will discuss Budget 2002 with the Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria on August 13.
