Nearly half of Bulgaria is under code yellow for severe weather Tuesday, the National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) reminds.
The weather people warn of new thunderstorms, downpours and hail, especially for Tuesday afternoon.
Code yellow means potentially dangerous weather.
Dangerous thunderstorms are expected all over northeastern Bulgaria with rain of over 50 liters per square meter.
Code yellow is declared for the regions of Sofia city, Sofia, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Targovishte, Razgrad, Pazardzhik and Plovdiv.
Sofia has been hit by severe thunderstorms Sunday and Monday night and with the most downpours in the entire country and Europe in the last 48 hours.
Downtown floods have been reported in Vratsa and Oryahovo; a lightning had started a fire in the southern town of Parvomay while hail has hit the town of Botevgrad near Sofia, where a lightning also set a house on fire.
The weather is expected to stabilize beginning Wednesday.
