Tom McNeill, a 17-year-old Brit tragically died after falling from the balcony of his hotel room in Bulgaria's Sunny Beach resort.

The youngster started his vacation in the Balkan country on July 15. He had spent the night in local night clubs before visiting his friends in the Sunny Fort hotel, the Dnevnik daily says.

He fell from his 4th-floor balcony around 8 am Sunday.

The teenager's parents, David and Sally McNeill from Carlisle, have said the are planning to travel to Bulgaria as soon as they can. "Tom is the salt of the earth, a charming, mature and loving boy who always put family first," they have said in a statement, as cited by BBC.

"He was the most wonderful and loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, boyfriend and friend.

"Tom touched everyone he met in a quiet unassuming way and he had such a vision of what he wanted and where he wanted to go in life.

"Tom has left a hole in our lives that we cannot ever imagine will heal but he is with us in all we do. We love him so much."
