The Facebook group "Let's Protect Our Children from Yana's Killers" has published a computer-generated sketch of a "dangerous" individual who is said to have been lurking around the Sofia Central Park Borisova Gradina.
The information was reported Wednesday by the Bulgarian daily 24 Chasa (24 Hours).
The group was established in support of 28-year-old Bulgarian, Yana Krasteva, whose body was discovered on July 10 in the park. Forensic experts have come to the conclusion that the young woman was beaten and strangled.
The group's page describes the individual as slightly retarded and looking innocent, roaming around Borisova Gradina at night, trying to initiate contacts with the goal to have sex.
The author of the sketch is identified as Vladislav Peev, who is appealing to everyone who spots the man to call the police since he is aggressive and cannot control his anger.
Peev does drawings of the park and says he had often seen the man riding around on a bike and trying to start conversations with women.
"Some girlfriends of mine were approached by someone, looking like the man on the sketch, the same day Yana was murdered. I think that his hair was a little bit longer, otherwise there is strong resemblance," a female Sofia resident is quoted saying.
Monday evening family and friends of Yana Krasteva held a silent vigil for her at Borisova Gradina.
After the murder, several media reported that the woman was a "hobo" and an "alcoholic," stirring outrage among her friends and acquaintances on Facebook. It turned out that Krasteva worked in a mall and had applied for college.
After the murder, Sofia's Mayor Yordanka Fandakova has pledged to install CCTVs and better lighting in the Borisova Gradina park.
The Mayor further asked to double the police patrols in the park, and informed the City Hall will attempt to take over the park's management by transferring its ownership from the State to the municipality.
