Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry has condemned an attack by rebels from the Kurdistan Workers' Party PKK that killed 13 and wounded 7 Turkish soldiers.
"Bulgaria condemns terrorism in all its forms and actions. We are convinced that the only way for the efficient resolution of the existing problems is through dialogue. History has shown that peace and understanding among people cannot be achieved through violence," Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov stated Friday in a letter offering condolences to his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu.
A number of other nations as well as the NATO leadership have condemned the attack by Kurdish separatist rebels in southeastern Turkey.
"I strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Dyiarbakir province," NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a statement.
'Such heinous attacks have no justification. I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who were killed. NATO Allies stand in full solidarity (with Turkey) against the scourge of terrorism," Rasmussen said.
Seven people, presumed to be members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), were also killed in the shootout near the town of Silvan on Thursday, the deadliest attack on troops in three years, DPA reports.
