The Rusalka international summer academy will open August 28 for the first time at the eponymous sea resort under the auspices of Queen Margarita, Dobrich deputy mayor Milen Chalukov said. This will be the first art event hosted by the resort. It will run through September 8.

Opera diva Gena Dimitrova will share her experience with young talents from Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Russia and Japan. Culture Minister Bozhidar Abrashev and Simeon II National Movement MP Aneliya Atanasova complete the academy`s honorary committee.The opera school of another opera diva, Alexandrina Milcheva, is held every summer in Balchik. Roman conservatory graduate Konstantina Petkova opened an opera school in her housein the village of Pchelarovo (in the Dobrich region).
