A day before its scheduled date, the public Facebook event entitled "A Day without Boyko Borisov" rallied more than 30 000 users protesting against Bulgarian Prime Ministers' ubiquity in the media.

The 30 000-plus members rallied within one week since the virtual event was announced on Facebook.

The information about the event explicitly states that it does not intend to voice political criticism of Borisov, his cabinet or the center-right GERB party he chairs, but it simply wants to take a break from what it sees as unneeded and deleterious Borisov-related news in Bulgarian media.

The event is scheduled to take place in "Bulgaria - real and virtual" on July 5, two years since Borisov's GERB swept to power after a spectacular close to 50% win at the 2009 parliamentary elections.

The organizers of the virtual happening also point out they consider the oversaturation of media with one personality as creating the feeling of autocracy taking place in Bulgaria.

"The event is in no way directed against the GERB party or the PM. Its creators and participants are just looking for a way to protest against the organized and non-organized kowtowing and the attempts to glorify one person above all others without rhyme or reason," reads the explanation to the event.

This, however, did not prevent Bulgarian Prime Minister Borisov, upon learning about it, to declare that the Facebook initiative must have been ordered by some of his political adversaries.
