Man Detained After Firing Gun Near Kindergarten in Sofia
A 54-year-old man, previously known to law enforcement, opened fire with a gas pistol near a kindergarten in Sofia's Lyulin district
The budget committee and the municipal council at the Sofia City Hall approved Tuesday the proposal of Chief Architect, Petar Dikov, to have special boards for posters for the upcoming local and presidential elections.
According to the proposal, there will be 3 000 such boards, while the decision on using them for free or against a fee is still pending. The boards will be mounted mainly on electric polls, but not in the very downtown of the city.
Dikov proposed a similar model for campaign materials before the partial local elections in 2009, but it came too late and was not passed by the municipal council.
If the City Hall manages to realize the idea, it will be the very first attempt to have strictly designated spaces for posters and to make political parties pay for their advertisements.
During the last elections, the Sofia City Hall introduced a deposit to be paid by parties with the goal to use the funds to clean in the aftermath, if the latter fail to do it on their own.
