Bulgaria's 'First Highway' Experiences First Crash, Jam

Society | May 15, 2011, Sunday // 19:21

The first car crashed on Bulgaria's Lyulin Highway just hours after its opening Sunday afternoon, reports bTV.

The crash, which happened at the entry to the highway from the Sofia beltway, is light and no one has been injured.

The first traffic jam has also been experienced on Lyulin, just hours after it was launched with an official ceremony Sunday.

The 19-km highway connects the western arc of the Sofia ring road to the E-79, bypassing the Lyulin mountain from the west.

It thus disburdens heavy traffic from the narrow road passing through Knyazhevo and Vladaya south of Sofia.
