EU is demanding immediate and desicive democratic reforms in Yemen, stated High Representative for External Affairs Catherine Ashton Tuesday.

Ashton spoke amid escalation of popular protests in Yemen and violent resistance on the part of the forces of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, which has left dozens dead.

"Immediate transition must start now, with no delay," stated Ashton, reiterating her earlier position.

Last week Saleh had stated that he would do everything possible for the good of Yemen, which has been interpreted as meaning his resolution to stay in power.
