Bulgarian Banking Sector Sees Increased Profit and Asset Growth Through July 2024
By the end of July 2024, Bulgarian banks reported a profit of 2.1 billion leva, marking an increase of 115 million leva compared to the same period in 2023
Fourteen banking and investment awards were handed out by Bulgaria's top finance forum "Banks Investments Money" at a glamorous gala dinner in Sofia Monday night.
Bulgaria's financial, business, and political elite as well as foreign diplomats attended the annual awards of the country's most prestigious finance forum.
Six awards were presented in the category "Financial Institution of the Year 2010" and seven in the category "Financial Product of the Year 2010".
The DSK Bank grabbed two of the Financial Institution of the Year 2010 prizes: the grand prize of being Bulgaria's "Best Bank of 2010" and "Most Profitable Bank of 2010".
D Commerce Bank also received two awards – for "Bank with Lowest Risk Policy 2010" and "Best Managed Bank 2010."
Corporate Commercial Bank got the prize for "Fastest Developing Bank 2010", while the "Doverie" Company, part of the Dutch TBIH Group, got the "Best Retirement Fund" prize for the second year in a row.
The USA was awarded in a special category as the "Largest Foreign Investor in Bulgaria 2010", after the Netherlands got the same prize back for 2009.
According to the organizers, last year's awards for best financial products by the Banks Investments Money forum have stimulated the Bulgarian market because the competition is said to have been even greater.
The "Virtual Mastercard" by Eurobank EFG, also known as Postbank, received the grand prize for "Best Financial Product of the Year", which also brought it the prize for "Innovation and Quality".
The United Bulgarian Bank got awarded for its "Forex Deposit" product in the "Best Deposit Product" category.
UniCredit Bulbank received the award for "Best Investment Product" for its "Pioneer Savings Plan."
Emporiki Bank got the prize for "Best Credit Product" for its "Fixed Interest Mortgage Credit."
Broker Ins was awarded for "Best Electronic Financial Product" for its "Online Platform for Selling Insurance www.24ins.bg."
DSK Bank and Groupama received the prize for "Best Combined Financial Products" with their "DSK Opportunity".
The awards presented by the Bulgarian finance forum "Banks Investments Money" are determined according to objective criteria based on the financial results of the companies.
The members of the Banks Investments Money jury are Assen Yagodin, CEO of Postbank (Eurobank EFG); Kiril Ananiev, an advisor of Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov on financial matters; Galabin Galabov, CEO of Emporiki Bank; Maria Vidolova, CEO of Texim Bank; Stoyan Mavrodiev, head of the State Financial Supervision Commission; Petrozar Petkov, General Director of the Bul Ins insurance company; Kamen Kolchev, chair of the Board of Directors of Elana Holding.
The "Banks Investment Money" expo and conference are organized by Emil Popov, Chair of the "Banks Investment Money" Foundation, Solomon Passy, President of the Atlantic Club in Bulgaria, and Maxim Behar, CEO of Bulgaria's largest PR company M3 Communications Group, Inc.
The finance forum is the only one of its kind in Bulgaria featuring top financiers and experts of Bulgarian and international companies and institutions.
